Tiffany Hall

Tiffany Hall is a PhD student in the Social and Cultural Analysis program in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Concordia University. Her doctoral research explores the social dimensions of hoarding behaviour. Part of this research involves examining how aesthetics are created and interpreted based on social norms and concepts of trash and waste. Visualizations of hoarding are often linked to dirt and disorder, while the individual objects that make up the hoard are described by hoarders as aesthetically pleasing. This dissonance highlights the variety of interpretations that exist in connecting material goods to socially agreed upon classifications, and questions the role of social cues and embodiment regarding materiality and aesthetics in the development of excess accumulation.
