Dr. Aimée Boutin, Florida State University presents research on the reordering of the sonic environment by cleansing of many of the street sounds that had long been a fixture of the old city in Haussmann’s new Paris.

Introduction and event description:

The Centre for Sensory Studies is pleased to present Dr. Aimee Boutin (PhD, Cornell University), who specializes in 19th-century French literature, gender studies, poetics and critical theory. The Centre for Sensory Studies is an interdisciplinary collaboration platform for research in the social life and history of the senses, perceptual practice, multisensory aesthetics, and the development of technologies for expanding the sensorium in innovative ways. The Centre for Sensory Studies is a Concordia University Faculty of Arts and Science Research Centre.
